John Stewart (musician)

John Stewart (September 5, 1939 San Diego, California – January 19, 2008) was an American songwriter and singer. He is known for his contributions to the American folk music movement of the early and mid 1960s while a member of The Kingston Trio (1961–1967) and as the songwriter of The Monkees' #1 hit song Daydream Believer, among several hundred other original songs composed over a solo career of more than forty years.
